Who We Are

In 1870 whom amongst our founding fathers could have imagined the prodigious success which today’s LCB has become? Starting originally as bargees on the Thames, they graduated to become the pre-eminent bonded warehousekeepers in the Port of London. For over a century, they served the wine and spirit trade with its very different needs.

With lifetime careers in the drinks business, Ben Jones and Alf Allington saw the opportunity to build on this solid reputation into what has now become the largest and most successful privately-owned tax warehousing company in the UK. We provide an unrivalled comprehensive and sophisticated drinks logistics service, supported by state-of-the-art IT systems, achieving the highest level of operational excellence at competitive rates.

Many years ago, the chance of further developing the fast-growing fine wine aspect of the business continued with the acquisition of the Eton Park operation in Burton-Upon-Trent. This has now expanded into Melksham and Dinton, all ideally equipped with temperature and humidity controls demanded for the cellarage of such sensitive products, and most recently, we have added Drakelow Tunnels in Kidderminster to expand our fine wine offering even further.

Over the years we have been fortunate in adding to our strengths the finest team of dedicated directors and senior management in the business, supported by long serving and experienced staff. Now responsible for 10 million cases in 2,400,000 ft2 of warehouses, and operating a delivery fleet of up to 300 vehicles, we are nevertheless always conscious of maintaining the ‘family’ character of the company. As a result our customers receive a truly personal service from people with names, who care, and are always available.

We look forward to working with you as your drinks logistics partner.
